How we handle your data.

Plain English. Aligned to the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ).

Who we are

GenStudio is operated by Gen Studio Limited, an Auckland, New Zealand company. References to "we" or "the studio" mean Gen Studio Limited. Contact us at hello@genstudio.co.nz.

What we collect

When you send a brief, we collect what you give us: your name, email, business name, project details, and any files or links you choose to share.

We also use anonymous, cookie-free analytics to understand how the site is used in aggregate — pages viewed, unique visitor counts, referrers, devices and countries. These metrics do not identify you and are not linked to any brief you send.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights, which are cookieless and do not track individuals across sites. They count page views and visits using a short-lived anonymous identifier and report only aggregated data to us. We do not use Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or other cross-site tracking tools.

Cookies

We use one small first-party cookie to remember your cookie preferences (so the banner does not reappear on every visit). No other cookies are set without your consent. There are no third-party tracking or advertising cookies on this site.

You can change your preferences any time by clearing this site's cookies in your browser — the banner will reappear.

How we use it

We use your information to assess whether your project is a fit, respond to your enquiry, and — if we go ahead — deliver the work. We do not use it for marketing and we do not sell it.

Where it goes

Briefs are delivered to the studio inbox via Web3Forms, a transactional form service. From there, only the principals of Gen Studio Limited read your brief. We do not share it with anyone else, except as required by law.

Storage and security

Your brief is transmitted over TLS, held by our form and email providers, and accessed only by the studio principals. We take reasonable steps to protect against loss, misuse and unauthorised access.

Overseas transfer (IPP 12)

Our service providers store and process information in the United States and other jurisdictions:

  • Web3Forms — form delivery (United States)
  • Vercel — site hosting (United States)
  • Google Fonts — typography delivery (United States; no tracking cookies)

By sending us a brief you acknowledge that your information may be transferred outside New Zealand. Privacy protections in those jurisdictions may differ from the Privacy Act 2020. We take reasonable steps to ensure our providers handle your information consistently with the Act.

How long we keep it

If we are not a fit, we delete what you sent within 30 days. If we are, we keep your brief for the duration of the project plus seven years, as required by NZ tax and contract record-keeping.

Your rights

Under the Privacy Act 2020 (and the GDPR where it applies), you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you. Email hello@genstudio.co.nz. We respond within a reasonable time and at no charge for routine requests.

Privacy Officer

Our Privacy Officer handles access requests, corrections, and any other privacy questions. You can reach them at hello@genstudio.co.nz.

Privacy breaches

If we become aware of a privacy breach that is likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected individuals and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner without undue delay, as required by the Privacy Act 2020.

Complaints

If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner — privacy.org.nz or 0800 803 909.
